Chartwell House
Chartwell was the home of Sir Winston Churchill from 1922 until his passing in 1965.
A house has existed on the 80 acres estate since 16th Century. Sir Winston Churchill purchased the 19th Century property extending and improving during his lifetime. It was the family home but also where Churchill wrote speeches, numerous books and entertained politicians and movie stars.
To relax, Sir Winston took up painting – and you can see the studio where he worked. He was also involved in landscaping the grounds and he even built the brick wall surrounding the kitchen gardens.
