About 1 hour 30 minutes from London and situated in the gentle, rolling hills of the Kent countryside, Chartwell House was the country home of Sir Winston Churchill. It was here where one of the greatest statesmen of all time wrote many great books and speeches. Also a keen gardener and painter, there are many exhibits reflecting the public and personal life of Sir Winston and his family. Allow 1 hour 30 minutes to see the house and gardens.

Gren Tours’ favourite vineyard near Chartwell is the Balfour Winery, part of the 400 acre Hush Heath Estate. Sourcing grapes from 200 acres of Hush Heathand nearby vineyards, Balfour produce international award winning wines include a rose from the three traditional grapes and a sparkling chardonnay. The estate also has an orchard, the apples from which produce a fine cider. There is also a collaboration with a local brewery for equally refreshing products..
