Leeds Castle

Set in 500 acres of parkland and gardens, and centred in a moat-bridged lake, the oldest part of Leeds castle is 900 years. Extended and remodelled over the next few centuries, most of the present castle dates from 13th century.

Leeds Castle was frequently used by successive Queens of England until the early 16th Century after which it was acquired and occupied by noble families in the later centuries. The last occupant was a wealthy heiress, Lady Olive Baillie who decorated the castle to her tastes.

There are formal gardens including an aviary, a tricky maze with a magical grotto, and the unique dog collar museum!
