They found an 18th century home ‘…at the extreme verge of the world..’ with room for expansion, acres of land, and neighbours who were neither ‘..too near nor too far..’.
Extended and improved during Darwin’s lifetime, it was first and foremost the family home but also a living laboratory. Darwin, a devoted father, often involved the children with his experiments
