The morning is spent, mainly around the Soho area, covering many sights including The 2I’s coffee bar, the birthplace of British Rock and Roll that launched the careers of Marty Wilde and Billy Fury.
Rock and Roll on foot/public transport – 8 Hour Tour
We will visit Denmark Street, London’s’ Tin Pan Alley’ with its music stores and rock history including the Sex Pistol’s home. Ronnie Scott’s jazz club, where Jimi Hendrix spent his last night on earth. Trident Sound Studios where classic Rock by Lou Reed and David Bowie was recorded. Also you will have a chance to re-enact the album cover of The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars.
Maybe lunch in the Hard Rock Cafe.
Most of the afternoon, spent in the Notting Hill area where Ska and Reggae was introduced to Britain in 1950s. Following this was Britain’s psychedelic music scene with bands like Hawkwind and Soft Machine in the late 1960s. The 101ers (later The Clash) and other Punk Rock bands gigged and frequented the area.
Of course no rock tour would be complete without The Beatles. Beatles related sites include, the offices of MPL (Paul McCartney’s publishing company), site of the Indica Gallery where John met Yoko and we finish the tour at Abbey Road.
