Museums and Galleries
Listed below are the main churches, museums and galleries of London. You can either include a brief visit to these places in a ‘London in a Day’ tour or a more detailed tour lasting approximately one to two hours.
Yes! London can be expensive but you could spend weeks in the many FREE musuems. The British Museum has some of the world’s greatest treasures including the Rosetta Stone and the Parthenon Sculptures (Elgin Marbles). The Imperial War Museum has probably the world’s most definitive guide to warfare and in complete contrast, The Victoria and Albert Museum examines the history of art and design.
The National Gallery is a collection of European art dating from 13th Century. The collection has works by Van Gogh, Constable, Da Vinci and Rembrandt. Tate Britain focuses on British art up to the 19th century with a gallery dedicated to Turner. Tate Modern features 20th and 21st century works from artists such as Picasso, Dali, Warhol and Damien Hirst.
